Tours and Activities to do in the Tamarindo area

• Private van pick-up at the Liberia airport $70 (up to 5 persons)  

• Palo Verde National Park (with an optional trip to Guaitil, famous for its pottery):

This tour includes a private van to Palo Verde National Park, a 1 ½   trip on the Tempische River where there are many species of birds, white-faced monkeys, Jesus Christ lizards, iguanas, caiman and crocodiles, and a simple, “typical” lunch in a wonderful tiny palapala-style restaurant . We try to book Jose as your guide, because all our guests love him! Most people opt to make the short trip to Guaitil after lunch to watch the potters make the locally renowned Chortega (Indian) style pottery with their simple tools and outdoor ovens. The cost is $90/pp with the stop in Guaitil; $80/pp without the stop.

·         Deep Sea Fishing

Tamarindo is famous for fishing and there are several reputable English speaking fishermen with whom we have worked.   Prices range from approximately $300/half day to $1,000 full day, depending on the size of the boat. Tell us your requirements and we will offer suggestions and then book for you…..during high season pre-booking may be necessary

·         Kayak in the estuary :  2 hours for $35/person, single or double kayak  

·         Horseback Riding : 2 hour ride in the countryside for $35/person  

·         Rincon de la Vieja ( Hot Springs , Waterfall and Horseback Riding):

This favorite trip takes place in beautiful Rincon de la Vieja National Park, which is a   1 ½ -2 hour trip from Tamarindo.   We will arrange for Jose, our favorite English speaking guide, to drive you in his van and to be your personal guide.   The price of $135/person includes the private van, the zip line canopy tour, a typical lunch, the waterslide (kids LOVE this), the horseback trip to the mud baths and the visit to the natural thermal baths.   Our guests love this all day adventure tour.

·         Snorkel   & Sunset Cruises

* The Blue Dolphin ($75/pp) is a catamaran which departs at 1:30 pm and return at 5:30 pm.  The price includes pick-up at your home, food, snorkeling equipment and lots of beer and rum; the “tunes” are good too!   The catamaran is a stable boat that offers a smooth ride; this is a fun party boat.

* The Mandingo ($65/pp) is a beautiful classic tri-sail mono hull; it departs at 3 pm and returns at approx. 6 pm.    The price includes pick-up at your home, drinks, appetizers and the beautiful sunset!   

*The owners of the Mandingo also do a morning Snorkel Trip from 8-11 a.m. in a motorboat.   You will go to Playa Conchal and also a second site.   The price is $50/pp.

·         Scuba diving with Agua Rica, costs $90 for a two tank dive for certified divers.  

·         Golf at Hacienda Pinilla ;

Hacienda Pinilla has a Mike Young designed course, approved by the National Audubon Society, just 20 minutes from Tamarindo.  This is a great course with two beautiful ocean holes.   $125 for 18 holes and golf cart.

·        Los Altos de Eros

Los Altos de Eros is a very lovely, upscale spa, located ½ hour from Tamarindo.  The view from their hill top location is wonderful.  The package includes a massage and a choice of several other treatments as well as a delightful, healthy lunch, fruit/nut snacks and wine, herb teas and fruit drinks.  $200/per person. They will pick you up at 8:50 a.m. and they leave the Spa at 3:00 pm.  Only available to non-guests on Tues, Wed and Thurs. This is a great way for golf widows to get even!!!
